Eligibility Criteria for MBBS at CMC

 

 

 

Admission Criteria & General Qualifications for MBBS Course at CMC Vellore:

 

1. Citizenship: Candidates must be Indian citizens. Foreign nationals of Indian origin may be considered for admission upon acquiring Indian Citizenship, per the eligibility certificate presented by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This provision does not apply to the 5 Government-sponsored Candidates from Friendly Foreign Countries.

 

2. Marital Status: Candidates should be unmarried and cannot enter a marital union during the duration.

 

3. Medical Standards: Candidates must fulfill the prescribed medical standards determined by the Government of India and the Ministry of Defense. The Medical Eligibility Criteria provides further details.

 

4. Age Criteria: Candidates should be 17 years old at the time of application or should attain that age on or before December 31 of the application year. The maximum age limit is 24 years; candidates must not be born before January 1st, 2000, or later than December 31, 2006.

 

Academic Qualifications

 

1. Qualifying Examinations

 

Candidates must clear one of the following qualifying exams on their first attempt:

 

  • Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination in Science from a recognized Indian University/Board with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, including practical tests in these subjects.

 

  •  Pre-professional/Pre-Medical examination in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

 

  •  1st year of the three-year Degree course at a recognized University with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

 

  •  Senior Secondary of a statutory Examination Board of Indian School Certificate examination of 12 years of study.

 

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate examination.

 

  • Any other examination is equivalent to the Higher Secondary Science/Pre-Professional/Pre-medical Examination of the Indian University/Board.

 

  • B.Sc. Examination of a recognized Indian University with specific subject requirements.

 

2. Subject-wise Requirements

 

  • Candidates must secure at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

 

  • Minimum 50% marks in English and science subjects are mandatory.

 

3. Mathematics Requirement

 

  • Candidates who have not studied Mathematics in the final year but have studied it up to the pre-final year stage (X Class) are eligible.

 

  • A candidate who did not take Mathematics at the Tenth or an equivalent examination but subsequently passed it as an additional subject in I.Sc./B.Sc. An examination is also eligible.

 

4. Candidates Appearing in Qualifying Examination

 

  • Candidates who are yet to appear in the qualifying examination may apply, but admission is subject to passing and meeting the eligibility criteria as specified.

 

5. Documentation Requirement

 

  • It is mandatory to produce a signed copy, validated by the candidate's school Principal, confirming the Mathematics eligibility at the interview.
