1. All India Quota: ‘All India Quota’ will determine 15% of the total seats in each Employee State Insurance Corporation Medical Institution. The following flowchart visualizes category-wise seat reservations under the All India Quota per the MCC’s guidelines.
The Person with Disability category is a horizontal quota. A scenario illustrating the same is the following. Say a candidate fulfills the requirements for PwD (5% reservation) but is eligible for the Scheduled Tribe (7.5% reservation) category at the same time. 2. State Allotment Quota: Based on the location of the ESI’s Medical Education Institution, a ‘State Government Quota’ will be per the policy of respective States applicable to un-aided non-minority Institutions, or in the absence thereof, as may be mutually agreed to, between the respective State Government and the ESI Corporation from time to time. Regarding the counselling bifurcation, the respective state counselling authorities will counsel 65% of the total MBBS/ seats.
3. Insured Person Quota: The remainder of seat allotments (20%) upon the allocation of All India Quota (15%) and State Quota (65%) will fall under the Insured Person quota. This provision is strictly for the wards or dependents of workers falling under the Employees State Insurance (ESI) scheme.
The allotments get done under the “Ward of Insured Persons” (IPs) on an All-India basis. Filling up of the seats occurs on a merit cum preference scheme. Applying candidates must submit an IP ward card to present and authenticate their candidature.
20% reservation of the total MBBS seat allotments are for the wards of Insured Persons. These candidates depend on workers who fall under the Employees State Insurance scheme. It exists for workers who earn up to Rs. 21,000 monthly.
