The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are well-known for the quality of medical education, research, and healthcare. The flagship AIIMS New Delhi was the first AIIMS institute established in 1956, following which other 19 institutes were set up all across India. These institutions play an important role in India's healthcare ecosystem, training thousands of doctors annually and providing advanced medical services to countless patients.
The competition for medical seats at AIIMS is not only because of the quality of education provided but also for the affordable fee structure compared to other institutes.
There are a total of 20 AIIMS institutes all across India. These institutes collectively have a total of 2,182 MBBS seats. According to reports, however, not even a single AIIMS institute in India has the complete required faculty for training the admitted medical aspirants.
