Counselling Procedure

KEA conducts a centralised counselling process online and offline. The registration, document verification, and seat allotment are conducted online. Per the government's directions, KEA invites candidates to register online.

Then, it ascertains their eligibility online through document verification before allotting seats to candidates for admission to medical and dental courses. As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Dental Council of India (DCI), there are a total of 62 Medical Colleges (Government, Private, and Deemed Medical Colleges) and 38 Dental Colleges offering around 8,522 MBBS and 2,709 BDS seats that shall participate in the State Counselling process. The detailed procedure for KEA counselling is explained below:

Step 1: Registration in Karnataka Counselling

Qualified NEET-UG candidates who desire to get admission under the Karnataka state quota must register online on the official website of KEA and pay the requisite registration fee as per the schedule released by KEA.

The procedure for online registration usually begins with the release of the KEA counselling notification, which is tentatively set to start by July 6th, 2024. Only candidates who register themselves online can participate in the further document verification process.

Category

Fees

General Merit

OBC / SC / ST

₹600/-

Open/ Candidates from other states

Step 2: Application Filling

After completing the payment, an application must be filled out with all the requested details. This includes personal information like Name, caste, etc., and details like a scorecard, Application Number, Roll Number, etc.

Step 3: Document Verification in Karnataka Counselling

Documents are verified to determine candidates' eligibility. Only after the documents are verified and found to be in order per the eligibility criteria will the candidates be given a verification acknowledgement slip containing the User ID and Secret Key. The User ID and Secret Key will be essential for candidates to access options and proceed further in counselling.

Note: The document verification for 2024 is going to be held ONLINE.

Step 4: Entry of Options (Round 1) in Karnataka Counselling

Eligible candidates can log in to the 'Entry of Options' online portal with the User ID and Secret Key provided at the end of the successful completion of the document verification process. Candidates should remember the following points while entering their options:

  • The candidate may enter as many options as they want at once.
  • It is the only opportunity for candidates to choose their preferences from the available options.
  • KEA doesn't allow candidates to change the list of options later on; however, in 2023, KEA allowed fresh choice filling for Choice 3 candidates in the subsequent rounds.
  • The option to alter/delete options during round 2 for choice two candidates is given.

Step 5: Allotment Process in Karnataka Counselling

The allotment of seats will be conducted in two rounds:

  1. First Round (ONLINE)
  2. Second Round (ONLINE)

Note: If any seats remain vacant after the second round, a mop-up round may be conducted ONLINE for all seat categories. Only candidates not allotted seats in the previous two rounds will be eligible to participate.
