KEA to Conduct Simultaneous Seat Allotment for Medical, Non Medical Courses
NEET UG
The Karnataka Examinations Authority - KEA announced conducting simultaneous seat allotment for medical and non medical courses on Thursday. The allotment process will experience a delay due to the ongoing NEET issue.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) announced on Thursday that the seat allotment process for all medical and non-medical courses will be conducted simultaneously, but the process will experience a delay due to the ongoing NEET issue.
"Due to the delay in receiving NEET UG 2024 results from the National Medical Commission (NMC), KEA has decided to prioritize registrations for engineering and other courses. The last date for registration of option entry is July 29," the release stated.
This announcement follows rumors that the KEA would proceed with counseling for admissions to engineering and other professional courses despite the delay in NEET UG 2024 counselling. The CET results were announced on June 1, and the NEET UG 2024 results were announced on June 4. However, the Supreme Court has disputed and challenged the NEET results.
The executive director mentioned that the authority is in communication with the NMC and expects that medical counseling dates will be announced within this week, followed by the release of the state’s seat allocation schedule.
Note: Candidates will be able to register their preferences for medical, dental, and other courses only after the announcement of NEET results.
Students who have passed the Second PUC Exam-3 are currently ineligible for the ongoing seat allocation. However, the director noted that the instructions will be reviewed to ensure equal opportunity for all candidates. Candidates are advised to visit the KEA website for timely updates.
The mock seat allotment results will be published on August 1. Candidates will then have a three-day window to modify their preferences.
Meanwhile, the National Medical Commission has yet to approve the seat matrix for medical, dental, nursing, and other allied health science courses in the State for 2024-25.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is responsible for conducting a multi-round counseling process based on NEET UG scores for admission to medical colleges in Karnataka. This process includes registration, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting.
KEA will conduct the Karnataka MBBS seat allotment based on the choices filled by candidates, reservation criteria, seat matrix, and NEET UG 2024 rank and score. The list will include details of the candidate, NEET UG 2024 score, and allotted college and course. Once the seat allotment is done, candidates will need to choose from the following options based on their status.
Seat Allotment Rounds
The seat allotment process will be conducted in two rounds:
Note: If any seats remain vacant after the second round, a mop-up round may be conducted online for all seat categories. Only candidates not allotted seats in the previous two rounds will be eligible to participate.
Seats are allotted in the first round based on the choices filled and NEET UG scores. Candidates have the following options post-allotment:
Post Round 1 Seat Allotment Choices
If you are satisfied with the allotted seat and willing to report to the allotted college, you can choose this option, accepting the seat and proceeding with the admission process.
If you are content with the allotted seat but aspire for a better one, you can choose the 'Upgrade' option. This allows you to retain your current seat while giving you the chance to secure a better one in the next round.
If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to participate in the next round, you can choose the 'Free Exit' option. This allows you to exit the current round without accepting the seat and participate in the next round.
If you are unsatisfied with the allotted seat and choose to leave the counselling process entirely.
If you haven't been allotted a seat in the first round, don't lose hope. Candidates who opted for Choice 2 or 3, or those not allotted a seat in Round 1, are eligible for Round 2. This provides another chance to secure a seat.
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 2 must report to the allotted college. Those allotted a BDS seat can participate in further rounds only for an MBBS seat.
The mop-up round is the final round of counselling. Candidates who have not been allotted any seat in previous rounds or the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling are eligible. It is the last opportunity to secure a seat in the KEA counselling process.
