Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (MGMCRI) , Pondicherry stands as a prominent medical establishment in the nation, having been ranked among the top 25 medical institutions in the India Rankings 2018 by NIRF, India. 

 

The official counseling authority responsible for allocating MBBS and BDS seats across the Union Territory is known as the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC). Currently, in 2024, there are four medical and three dental institutes in Puducherry.

 

In Puducherry, the four MBBS colleges consist of one government college and three private colleges.

 

The medical colleges in Puducherry collectively offer a total of 830 seats. Among these, the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute is the sole government medical college with 180 MBBS seats. The remaining 650 seats are distributed among two minority and one non-minority private medical colleges.

The Institute has received official recognition from key authorities including the Medical Council of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, and the Government of Puducherry to conduct undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty medical programs. MGMCRI is among the few medical colleges across the country with an annual intake of 250 students.

MGMCRI Admission Procedure

 

 

1. Candidates who have been assigned seats through centralized counseling by the MCC of DGHS for enrollment in the MBBS Degree program at the Deemed to be University for the academic year 2024-25 should ensure to appear and fulfill the admission procedures within the specified date and time according to the allocation order issued by the DGHS.

 

Note: All the days will be working days for our Admissions office during the reporting period.

3. Please report to the Admission Office with your parent or legal guardian from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Documents Required for MGMCRI

 

 

The following documents are required for admission to the MGMCRI.

 

  1. PH Certificate (If Applicable)
  2. Online Provisional Allotment Letter issued by the MCC
  3. OBC/SC/ST Certificate (if Applicable)
  4. NEET UG 2024 Admit Card issued by NTA
  5. NEET UG 2024 Result / Rank letter issued by NTA
  6. 10th Mark Sheet
  7. 12th Mark Sheet
  8. Birth Certificate / 10th Mark Sheet
  9. Transfer / Migration & Conduct Certificate
  10. Ten (10) Passport-size photographs are the same as those on the NEET UG Admit Card.
  11. Family Photograph (or Photograph with Legal Guardian) – to submit at the time of commencement of classes
  12. Photocopies of all certificates (1 set self-attested).
  13. Proof of identity: Aadhar, EPIC—voter ID Card, Passport, Driving License, or any other Government of India-issued Identity Card.

 

Documents Required for Special Candidates

 

   1. OBC certificate issued by the competent authority. The sub-caste should tally with the Central List of OBC. To claim the OBC reservation benefit, OBC candidates should not belong to Creamy Layer. The OBC certificate must be in the standard format mentioned in the prospectus / Information Bulletin.

   

   2. The SC/ST Certificate issued by the competent authority.

 

Note: If the certificate is in a regional language, the candidate should carry a translated copy in English / Hindi attested by a notary Public.

   

   3. Orthopedic Physical Disability Certificate issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board.

MGMCRI Annual Fees

 

 

The admission confirmation is only possible after the full payment of fees for the first year. The fees for all five years will remain consistent throughout the entire course. This means that the fee paid for the first year will also apply to the second and subsequent years. Students admitted under the NRI Quota are required to pay the prescribed fees in USD for all five years.
