The DCI and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ordered the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college on March 6th, 2025.
An order for the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college on Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru was issued on March 6th, 2025, due to poor enrollment and faculty shortage. The order was issued by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college came even before the end of the academic year, causing panic for a lot of candidates regarding their future.
The DCI and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare withdrew recognition to the AECS Maaruti College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre on March 6th, 2025. They also suspended admissions for the academic year 2025-26. Poor enrollment and faculty shortage are among the other main reasons for the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college.
Enrollment and faculty shortage along with the lack of necessary infrastructure were the reasons for the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college. The request for the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college was put forward by the management of the institute itself. In response to their request, the DCI and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ordered a closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college.
The management of the institute had constantly mentioned of the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college, according to B.L. Sujatha Rathod, Director of DME. Candidates demanded the closure of AECS Maaruti Dental college after the completion of their courses. However, the counselling authority decided that the candidates will not continue in the institute but be moved to other colleges.
Here are the steps taken by the counselling authority for the students of AECS Maaruti College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre:
The DCI wrote a letter to the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) on April 1st, 2025, informing them to shift candidates to other dental colleges within the state. The DME, without prior discussion with the KEA, decided to conduct counselling through KEA and shift the students. The counselling was supposed to be held on May 16th, 2025. However, due to a lack of clarity regarding the placement of the candidates and confusion about the fee structure, the counselling was called off by the KEA.
Moreover, with the ongoing CET-2025 admission process, Prasanna H., Executive Director of KEA stated that counselling for AECS Maaruti College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre candidates cannot be organized. During the admission to the institute, some candidates got seats through management quota and others through KEA. Prasanna H informed DME to get complete details regarding the placement of the affected candidates across different colleges within the state.
Both the DME and the KEA assured candidates that once the necessary information is available and the permissions are obtained, counselling will take place. Candidates will then be placed in different dental colleges to continue their education.
