CBI Books Two in NEET 2025 Score-fixing Scam of Rs. 87.5 Lakhs

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered a NEET 2025 score-fixing scam, which involved over Rs. 87.5 lakhs for the manipulation of the NEET 2025 exam scores.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently busted a NEET 2025 score-fixing scam, arresting two men involved in it. Read on to know more about the NEET 2025 score-fixing scam, mode of operation, and the uncovering of the scam.

NEET 2025 Score-fixing Scam

Two accused, Sandeep Shah from Solapur and Salim Patel from Navi Mumbai, were arrested by the CBI earlier this week for allegedly deceiving NEET UG 2025 candidates and their parents. The accused made false promises of fixing the NEET 2025 scores in exchange for lakhs of money. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed that there was no involvement of the National Testing Agency (NTA) so far in the investigation.

The accused sought around Rs. 90 lakhs per candidate to manipulate their NEET 2025 scores. They deceived candidates by claiming that they had connections with officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, after investigation by the CBI no involvement of the NTA was noted.

Mode of Operation for the NEET 2025 Score-fixing Scam

The accused Sandeep Shah, who is the primary negotiator, allegedly set up meetings with NEET UG 2025 candidates and their parents at luxury hotels like the ITC Grand Central in Mumbai. According to the CBI investigation, the meetings were held at such places to project influence and credibility. The parents who did not suspect the accused’s claims were shown sample documents and assured that the NEET 2025 results would be shared to them six hours before the official release.

Shah had demanded Rs. 90 lakhs from one of the parents, however, after negotiation, the amount was settled to Rs. 87.5 lakhs. Evidences also show payments made with cash and hawala channels (informal money transfers with brokers unlike traditional banking systems). The parent had paid Rs. 32.5 lakhs by cash and Rs. 55 lakhs through the hawala channels. Though the accused claimed NTA and government official connection to give parents false assurance, investigations reveal that neither the NTA nor the government was involved in the scam.

The Whatsapp chats of the accused in the NEET 2025 score-fixing scam revealed the names of candidates whose marks were to be altered. The details of candidates’ admit cards and OMR were also found in the accused’s mobile phones.
