The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 results have set new benchmarks in medical entrance examinations in India. This year has witnessed increased competition, with 23,33,297 candidates appearing for the exam. An impressive 56.4% of the aspirants, translating to 13,16,268 students, qualified, reflecting the nationwide surging aspirations for medical careers.

 

67 students secured a perfect score of 720 out of 720, highlighting the exceptional calibre of this year's examinees. The stark shift in rankings further illustrates the intensity of the competition; a score of 500, which fetched an All India Rank (AIR) of 1,09,125 in NEET UG 2023, now only secures an AIR of 2,10,250 in NEET UG 2024. 

 

The 703 medical colleges in India consist of 1,08,988 MBBS seats, while as of 2024, there are 29,088 BDS seats available nationwide.

NTA researches institutional, professional, and testing systems to identify gaps in different knowledge avenues and bridge the gaps. 

 

The main functionalities of NTA are:

2. Create subject-wise question banks incorporating modern techniques.

3. Establishment of a strong R&D culture and a pool of experts in different testing aspects.

4. Help individual institutions in testing fields and provide training services.

5. Form a state-of-the-art testing culture through domestic and international expertise.

6. Undertake examinations entrusted to the agency by Government Ministries/Departments.

 

Based on the NEET result statistics, around 20.38 lakh students took the NEET 2023 examination, with 11.8 lakh female candidates registering, outnumbering male candidates by 2.8 lakh. Maharashtra had the highest number of NEET registrations for 2023, followed by Uttar Pradesh.
