Opening of 2 New Medical Colleges in Uttarakhand, with 200 MBBS Seats

The government of Uttarakhand has given the green light to open 2 new medical colleges in the state, with a collective total of 200 MBBS seats. The 2 new medical colleges will be opened in Pithoragarh and Rudrapur districts in Uttarakhand. The construction of these new medical colleges in the state has been completed, and the state’s Medical Education Department has applied to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for approval.

 

The National Medical Commission (NMC) will send a team to inspect both these medical colleges in the Pithoragarh and Rudrapur districts. If the medical colleges meet all the parameters, the NMC will approve them. These institutes will each accept 100 MBBS seats. If both these medical colleges in the Pithoragarh and Rudrapur districts are approved, the total MBBS seat count in Uttarakhand will increase from 1,450 to 1,650.

 

At present, there are 5 government, 3 private, an AIIMS, and a deemed medical college in Uttarakhand. The approval of 2 new medical colleges in the state will bring the total number of colleges in the state to 12.
