200 New MBBS Seats in 3 Private Colleges in Chhattisgarh upon NMC Approval

A total of 200 new MBBS seats have been added to 3 private medical colleges in Chhattisgarh for the round 2 of NEET UG counselling 2025 after receiving the Letters of Permission (LOP) from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The NEET exam 2025 might have been tough for many, and the bar may have been set too high for getting an MBBS seat allotment, given the competition among the 12.36 lakh NEET-qualified candidates and higher cut off requirements across institutes. The good news, however, is that more medical seats are getting added day by day by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Recently, a total of 2,720 MBBS seats were added across India, out of which 2,170 were government seats and 550 were deemed seats. The NMC had sent the Letters of Permission (LOP) on 10th September 2025, stating the approval of 200 new MBBS seats across these 3 private medical colleges in Chhattisgarh. Each of these three private medical colleges in Chhattisgarh sought approvals for 100 MBBS seats. However, after the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) reviewed the applications and the documents submitted by the institutions, it was decided that a collective 200 new MBBS seats would be added to these 3 private institutions.
Only Shri Balaji Institute of Medical Science, Raipur had all the 100 requested MBBS seats approved by the NMC, whereas only 50 MBBS seats were added to Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai and Abhishek Mishra Memorial Medical College & Research, Bhilai, each. These 3 private institutions in Chhattisgarh initially had a collective 400 MBBS seats. After the addition of new MBBS seats, they now have a total of 600 MBBS seats.
