According to the latest official notice posted on 25^th August on KEA’s website, the round 2 NEET UG counselling 2025 has been revised. Candidates were given time for rearranging, modifying or deleting the entered options until 1:00 p.m. of 26^th August, 2025, for round 2 KEA NEET UG counselling. The provisional seat allotment results are scheduled for release on 29^th August, 2025, which is almost 3 days after modification of the online options.

 

The round 2 KEA NEET UG counselling 2025 could start again with the approval of new medical seats in the state, as the seat matrix would be updated. Candidates may again be provided with opportunities to view the updated seat matrix and fill in new choices for round 2 KEA NEET UG counselling 2025. The main reason quoted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the revision of the round 2 NEET UG counselling 2025 schedule was to increase medical seats across the country. After communication with the National Medical Commission (NMC), which is responsible for the approving of medical seats, MCC announced that the increase of MBBS seats was in progress for the NEET 2025 session. This means that MBBS seats are likely to be added in various states across the country, including Karnataka.

 

The Department of Medical Education (DME) had sought the approval of new medical seats earlier mostly in government institutions like Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute. However, none of the seats were approved due to the lack of the required facilities. Even the newly opened medical colleges at Ramanagara and Kanakapura were rejected by the NMC.

 

The department had earlier submitted a request seeking the approval of 800 MBBS seats in government-run institutions across the state. The addition of 50 and 100 MBBS seats was requested in institutions based on the available facilities. ‘Even if the NMC considers 50% of our demand, we will be getting at least 400 more seats for the second round which will be available for poor meritorious students,’ a senior official of DME said. The executive director of DME, H Prasanna stated that the online option entry is ongoing and if the new medical seats get approval from NMC, they will be updated to the seat matrix. This message suggests that the online option entry could be available for KEA round 2 NEET UG counselling 2025 again after the approval of MBBS seats.
