Based on NEET UG 2024 registration data, the OBC NCL category, which refers to Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer, accounted for 43.8% of registrations and 10,43,084 applicants, making them the largest group of medical aspirants.

 

 

Following this, the General category secured 27% of registrations, with 6,43,596 candidates expressing interest in medical education. The SC (Scheduled Caste) category comprised 14.8% of registrations, with 3,52,107 candidates. 

 

 

 

The Gen-EWS (General-Economically Weaker Section) category is a relatively newer addition to the reservation criteria. Still, it has notable participation, with 1,88,557 candidates vying for medical seats, which is 7.9% of the total registrations. Additionally, the ST (Scheduled Tribe) category accounts for 6.5% of registrations, with 1,54,489 students stepping forward.
