AYUSH Digital Initiatives for Integrative Medicine

This article contains complete information about AYUSH Digital Initiatives for Integrative Medicine

Digital technologies will inevitably contribute to achieving better healthcare services. The Ministry of AYUSH (MoA) embraces digitalization to develop, educate, and research prominent emerging digital initiatives. Categories include Health information systems, Research databases and libraries, Academia, Information Education, and Communication (IEC).

Digital innovations and technologies have changed healthcare systems, having both individualistic and grouped applications. Healthcare digitization is now unavoidable since medical knowledge gets shared rapidly in the form of Electronic Health Records (EHR) archives of patient data and documentation of clinical evidence. The World Health Organization (WHO) advocates harnessing the positive potential of digital technology to promote and protect public health.

Under the umbrella of digital health, advanced medical technologies and electronic communication provide efficient healthcare services. Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a goal envisioned by the World Health Organisation. The MoA's digital projects are essential to changing the established medical systems. They have the potential to raise standards for AYUSH healthcare services' accessibility, research quality, and educational programs.

Description of Digital Initiative

A-HMIS - AYUSH Hospital Management Information System. It is a customizable and comprehensive information management system developed by the MoA. THERAN (THE Research Application Nexus) is an information system for Siddha created by the Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI). It functions under the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS). THERAN was upgraded to A-HMIS in AYUSH, with customizations made for every system. The objective was to integrate the processes and flow of the hospital into a single platform and provide better patient care and hospital management with proper documentation.

The five distinct A-HMIS modules are listed below; their names preserve the distinctiveness of each system, which is utilized throughout India and in all medical systems:
