The Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE) conducts entrance exams for professional courses, including Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical (KEAM).
In 2023, out of 1,37,396 NEET UG candidates registered in Kerala, 1,33,450 appeared for the exam, and 75,362 candidates qualified, 43.2% of the total number of medical aspirants who appeared. Candidate registration continued the upward trend in 2024, soaring to 1,44,949, a 5% increase.
Students must stay updated on the KEAM State Counselling application process for different counselling types based on their requirements, categories, and reservations to ensure the accurate submission of candidate details.
On 21 June 2024, KEAM released an important update regarding the KEAM Kerala Application’s claiming Category for Minority—NRI Status. This update presents a unique opportunity for candidates who have already submitted their applications. They can now add NRI, Minority, and Category claims, which enhances their chances of securing admission under various reserved categories. This provision promotes inclusivity and fairness and empowers candidates to take control of their application process.
By allowing candidates to add NRI, Minority, and Category claims, the CEE ensures that all students, irrespective of their socio-economic background, get a fair chance at securing admission in their desired courses. This emphasis on fairness and inclusivity should reassure candidates and instill confidence in the system.
1. For candidates who have already submitted applications under KEAM 2024 for admission to any of the courses, such as Engineering/Architecture/Pharmacy/Medical & Medical Allied courses, facilities have been made available to add NRI, Minority & Category Claims. The facility for adding NRI, Minority & Category Claims to the already submitted application will be available on the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in of the Commissioner for Entrance examinations. Please note that the deadline for adding these claims is 24.06.2024, 6.00 PM. We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline.
2. Students should log in to their home page by entering their application number.
3. Applicants who want to be considered for admission through KEAM to various reserved category seats based on community or NRI quota or EWS quota (Economically Weaker Section under General Category) or Minority quota should submit the required supporting documents (Community Certificate, Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for State education purpose, EWS certificate for state education purpose, NRI documents, etc. as the case may be) to substantiate the claims for reservation. There will be no opportunity to submit supporting documents later under any circumstances.
All candidates are strongly advised to thoroughly review the Notification dated 27.03.2024 and the approved Prospectus for admission to Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Medical & Medical Allied courses, and related Kerala State Government orders available on the KEAM's official website. This will help you understand the eligibility criteria and the documents required for each claim. Only after you have familiarized yourself with this information should you proceed to submit a reservation claim.
Adding NRI, Minority, and Category claims in KEAM 2024 is a significant step towards promoting equality in education. Candidates are urged to take full advantage of this facility and understand the importance of submitting all necessary documents by the deadline. This initiative supports deserving students and strengthens the integrity and inclusivity of the KEAM admissions process.
