KCET 2026 Engineering toppers list has been led by Tanisha Karthik and Srajan B S, who have secured top positions in the engineering stream. They are followed by Ninaad Vasisht, Ira Jain, Rishon Fernandes, Advik Ganapathi M B, Chinmay G K, Abhii Sannayya, Abigel Verghese, and Anirudh S. The Veterinary merit list demonstrates strong academic consistency among aspirants opting for animal sciences and allied health fields.
For Agriculture, Sericulture, and Forestry streams, the toppers list includes Ninad Vashist, Anmol Prabhu, Samay A S, Rishika K S, Ritul S Reddy, Ankit Ashok Dodawad, Arale Virupakshi, Kritika Mallikarjun Patil, Shreya Ballal Nidamboor, and Amulya S. The KCET 2026 total qualified candidates stood at 2,92,782, who were declared eligible for ranking and counselling processes. This pool of qualified candidates will now compete for seats across various undergraduate professional courses in the state, making the counselling phase highly competitive.
The subject-wise attendance remained consistently high across major subjects. Physics recorded 3,09,014 candidates, closely followed by Chemistry with 3,08,946 candidates. Mathematics saw 3,02,384 candidates appearing, while Biology recorded comparatively lower participation at 2,31,023 candidates. This trend continues to reflect a stronger preference for engineering and science-oriented streams among students.
For Engineering courses, 2,82,603 candidates qualified for the counselling and admission processes, while 2,86,609 candidates were eligible for B.Pharm and 2,86,965 for Pharm-D programs. In science and allied health sciences, 2,09,220 candidates qualified for B.Sc programs, and 2,18,785 candidates became eligible for B.Sc Nursing admissions. Additionally, 2,12,730 candidates qualified for BNYS (Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences), showing growing interest in holistic and alternative medicine pathways. 2,12,909 candidates qualified for Veterinary courses. In practical-based qualifications, 21,775 candidates cleared the Agriculture practical requirements, while 21,838 qualified in the Veterinary practical assessments.
The KCET 2026 total number of qualified candidates reflects the intense competition across Karnataka’s professional education system. With nearly 3 lakh eligible candidates, the counselling process is expected to be highly competitive across all major streams. According to KEA officials, the KCET candidate performance was uniform across all districts. Students from both urban and rural regions performed almost equally.
This overall rise in performance standards has led to what is commonly referred to as rank inflation, where a larger number of students are scoring high marks. As a result, even small differences in marks are now causing large differences in ranks, making the marks vs rank relationship much tougher than in previous years. In simple terms, the same score that would have fetched a better rank earlier may now result in a lower rank due to increased competition.
The KCET 2026 ranks were calculated using a 50:50 weighted composite score system. The final KCET 2026 rank is determined by averaging the percentage of the class 12 exam marks and the KCET 2026 scores.
For engineering, only Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) marks (class 12 marks) are considered out of a total of 300. For agricultural and medical courses, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) marks are considered.
Formula: PCM Marks/300 x 100
For example: If the average PCM marks were 265 in class 12th, then:
265/300 x 100 = 88.33%
The KCET entrance exam is evaluated out of 180 total marks (60 marks each for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology).
Formula: Total KCET 2026 marks/180 x 100
For Example: If the KCET 2026 score was 155, then:
155/180 x 100 = 86.11%
KEA averages these two percentages to find your final merit score out of 100.
Formula: Class 12th percentage + KCET percentage/2
For Example: 88.33+86.11/2 = 87.22% (Final Merit Score)
Once your final merit score is generated, candidates are ordered from highest to lowest score. The student with the highest composite score is assigned Rank 1, and so on.
