  • 2021: In 2021, 16,14,777 candidates registered for the NEET UG exam, a 1% increase in the number of registrations from 2020. Out of the total registered candidates, 15,44,275 participated, and 8,70,074 qualified the NEET UG exam in 2021. 54% of the total registered candidates qualified the NEET UG exam in 2021. 2021 saw over 13% increase in the number of qualifying candidates compared to 2020.

  • 2022: 18,72,343 candidates registered for the NEET UG exam 2022, out of which 17,64,571 registered and 9,93,069 qualified. 53% of the registered candidates qualified for NEET UG 2022. This year saw a 14% increase in the number of qualifying candidates compared to 2021.

  • 2023: 20,87,462 candidates registered for the NEET UG exam 2023. This year saw 20,38,596 candidates participating in the NEET UG exam, out of which 11,45,976 qualified. 55% of the registered candidates qualified the NEET UG exam 2023. 2023 saw a 15% increase in the number of qualifying candidates compared to 2022.

  • 2024: 24,06,079 candidates registered for the NEET UG exam 2024, which is 15% more than the registrations in 2023. Out of the total registered candidates, 23,33,162 participated, and 13,15,853 qualified the NEET UG exam 2024. 55% of the registered candidates qualified the NEET UG exam 2024.

Trends in the NEET UG Exam Over the Years

 

 

The NEET 2025 exam date is scheduled for May 4th, 2025. The online application for the NEET UG exam, which commenced on February 7th, 2025, is open and expected to close on March 7th, 2025. The percentage of candidates who qualified or passed the NEET UG exam averaged 53% from 2016 to 2024. There were 8,02,594 candidate registrations in 2016 and 24,06,079 in 2024, a 200% increase in the number of registrations. 7,31,223 candidates participated in the NEET UG exam in 2016, whereas 23,33,162 participated in 2024, a 219% increase in the number of participants. 4,09,477 candidates qualified in the NEET UG exam in 2016, whereas 13,15,853 qualified the NEET exam in 2024, a 221% increase compared to 2016.

 

These figures show gradual increases over the years, suggesting further increases in NEET UG 2025. 2018 and 2019 saw similar figures in the number of registrations, participants, and qualified candidates. 2020 is the only year with less than 50% (48.2%) qualified candidates from the total registered candidates that year. All the other years saw figures over 50% from the registered candidates. 2023 and 2024 have similar percentages (55%) of qualified candidates from the total registrations for the respective years.
