DME also releases the Tamil Nadu MBBS State Merit List. Qualified students with their names on the list will be eligible for the seat allotment procedure. It also conducts counselling for Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 for 85% of seats under state quota and 100% in private colleges. The authority requires aspirants to complete the Tamil Nadu MBBS application form to fulfill eligibility. DME releases the Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling merit list, which includes the names of the qualified candidates.
The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu, conducts counselling for the Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 admissions. DME has started the Tamil Nadu NEET admission process for eligible candidates.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Dental Council of India (DCI), there are 74 Medical colleges and 20 Dental colleges in Tamil Nadu, which offer around 11,700 MBBS and 2150 BDS seats. Candidates who wish to apply for State Quota seats offered by these colleges must complete an online application/registration form that the DME will release.

NEET UG is the standard qualifying exam for medical aspirants in the country. In 2023, 20,87,445 candidates registered for NEET UG globally, competing for 1,08,958 MBBS seats in 703 medical colleges and 29,088 BDS seats in dental colleges. Of the aspirants, 20,38,596 appeared for the exam, and 11,45,976 candidates cleared it.
Candidates appearing in NEET UG must stay updated with the latest exam and counselling-related information. Medical aspirants must regularly check updates on the websites of NTA, MoH&FW, DGHS, Medical Counselling Committee, and other concerned Authorities of participating States / Universities / Institutions until the conclusion of the final counselling round.
The registration process for NEET UG 2024 began on February 9 and ended on March 16 at 9:00 PM. Students could make corrections to their applications from March 18 to March 20.
This year, 23,81,833 candidates registered for NEET UG 2024, representing a 14.1% increase in total registrations. This information helps aspirants understand the current competitive landscape.

1. Applicant must have qualified NEET UG 2024.
2. The candidate should have passed 12th or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum aggregate mark of 50%, but in case of reservation, the candidate should get a minimum of 45%.

2. Students claiming to be minorities should have the Minority Certificate in Tamil Nadu provided by the school or the revenue department.
3. Minority criteria are applicable only if the students have studied from 6th - 12th from Tamil Nadu.
4. Candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu with Christian religion are eligible for the Christian Minority seats.
5. Any student from India can apply for the Management quota in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu offers 11,600 seats in the 74 colleges. The seat distribution is divided into MCC Counseling and Tamilnadu State counselling, again divided into 15% AIQ seats and 85% seats in Government College.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DME), Tamil Nadu, will commence the counselling online at the official website. Candidates will participate in the counselling process in 2024 according to the schedule released by the authorities. The authorities group the shortlisted candidates according to their ranks.
