The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the NEET UG 2026 exam subject-wise syllabus on its official website. All subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology), comprise a total of 50 units for NEET UG 2026.




The updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026 was released by the National Medical Commission on its official website on 22nd December, 2025. Candidates must visit the official website to view the updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026. Overview of NEET UG 2026

 

The exam date for NEET UG 2026 has not been officially announced by the counselling authority yet. However, the NEET UG 2026 exam is expected to be conducted on May 3rd, 2026, by looking at the previous years’ trends. The NEET UG 2026 exam is expected to be conducted offline (pen and paper mode) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (3 hours).  

 

The questions in the NEET UG 2026 exam will be from subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The NEET UG 2026 question paper will include a total of 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). 45 questions will be from Physics, 45 from Chemistry, and 90 will be from Biology. +4 marks will be awarded for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. No marks will be provided for unattempted questions. The maximum obtainable marks for NEET UG 2026 are 720.

Finalized Syllabus for NEET UG 2026

 

The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the finalized syllabus for NEET UG 2026 on its official website on 22nd December, 2025. This updated syllabus helps candidates focus on the topics that they must focus on while preparing for the NEET UG 2026 exam. The official notice advises all the candidates and stakeholders, including coaching centers and teachers, to refer to the updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026 and prepare the study materials for the NEET 2026 exam. 

 

The questions in NEET UG 2026 will be from the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology topics of Class 11 and 12. The topics for NEET UG 2026 remain the same as 2025, and none of the topics has been removed, which could be good news for candidates who may have already started with the preparation for the exam. 

 

Subject-wise Breakdown of the Updated Syllabus for NEET UG 2026

 

The updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026 comprises a total of 50 units; 20 in Physics, 20 in Chemistry, and 10 in Biology. Here’s a subject-wise breakdown of the updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026:



Physics Syllabus for NEET UG 2026



As per the updated syllabus for NEET UG 2026, Physics has 20 units, balancing theory and experimental skills. Here are the class 11 and 12 Physics units for NEET UG 2026:

 

Class 11 units include 

 

  • Physics and Measurement (SI units, errors, dimensions) 
  • Kinematics (motion graphs, vectors, projectiles) 
  • Laws of Motion (Newton's laws, friction, centripetal force) 
  • Work Energy and Power (theorem, conservation, collisions) 
  • Rotational Motion (torque, moment of inertia, angular momentum) 
  • Gravitation (Kepler's laws, satellites) 
  • Properties of Solids and Liquids (elasticity, viscosity, surface tension, heat transfer)
  • Thermodynamics (laws, processes) 
  • Kinetic Theory of Gases (RMS speed, equipartition)
  • Oscillations and Waves (SHM, wave motion, standing waves)

Class 12 units cover

 

  • Electrostatics (Coulomb's law, Gauss's law, capacitors)
  • Current Electricity (Ohm's law, Kirchhoff’s laws, Wheatstone bridge)
  • Magnetic Effects (Biot-Savart, Ampere's law, galvanometer)
  • Electromagnetic Induction (Faraday's law, AC circuits, transformers)
  • Electromagnetic Waves (spectrum)
  • Optics (mirrors, lenses, wave optics, polarization)
  • Dual Nature (photoelectric effect, de Broglie)
  • Atoms and Nuclei (Bohr model, fission/fusion)
  • Electronic Devices (semiconductors, logic gates)
  • Experimental Skills (vernier calipers, screw gauge, resonance tube, etc.) 

Aspirants should practice numericals and experiments, as Unit 20 lists 18 practicals like Young's modulus and p-n junction characteristics.



Chemistry Syllabus for NEET UG 2026

 

Chemistry is divided into Physical, Inorganic, and Organic sections across 20 units. Here are the class 11 and 12 Chemistry units for NEET UG 2026:

 

Physical Chemistry starts with

  • Some Basic Concepts (mole concept, stoichiometry) 
  • Atomic Structure (Bohr model, quantum numbers, orbitals) 
  • Chemical Bonding (VSEPR, MO theory, hybridization) 
  • Chemical Thermodynamics (laws, Hess’s law, Gibbs energy) 
  • Solutions (Raoult's law, colligative properties) 
  • Equilibrium (Le Chatelier’s, ionic equilibrium, buffers) 
  • Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry (Nernst equation, batteries)
  • Chemical Kinetics (order, Arrhenius equation)

Inorganic Chemistry includes 

  • Classification of Elements (periodic trends) 
  • p-Block Elements (Group 13-18) 
  • d- and f-Block Elements (transition metals, lanthanoids)
  • Coordination Compounds (Werner's theory, isomerism, crystal field theory)

 

Organic Chemistry covers 

  • Purification (chromatography, detection)
  • Basic Principles (isomerism, nomenclature, reaction mechanisms)
  • Hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes, arenes)
  • Halogen Compounds
  • Oxygen Compounds (alcohols, phenols, carbonyls, carboxylic acids)
  • Nitrogen Compounds (amines, diazonium)
  • Biomolecules (carbs, proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins)
  • Practical Chemistry (titrations, salt analysis)

 

Emphasis lies on mechanisms, reactions, and quantitative analysis.



Biology Syllabus for NEET UG 2026

 

90 questions in the NEET UG 2026 exam will be from Biology (both Botany and Zoology). Here are the class 11 and 12 Biology units for NEET UG 2026:

 

Diversity in Living World covers 

  • Taxonomy
  • Five kingdoms (Monera to Fungi), algae to gymnosperms, and non-chordates to chordates
  • Structural Organisation details plant morphology (root to seed, families like Fabaceae), and frog anatomy (tissues, systems)

Cell Structure and Function includes 

  • Cell theory
  • Organelles (mitochondria, ER)
  • Biomolecules (proteins, enzymes)
  • Cell cycle (mitosis, meiosis)

 

Plant Physiology addresses 

  • Photosynthesis (C3/C4, chemiosmosis) 
  • Respiration (glycolysis, TCA)
  • Growth regulators (auxin, ABA)



Human Physiology includes

  • Breathing (volumes, disorders like asthma)
  • Circulation (ECG, hypertension)
  • Excretion (nephron, dialysis)
  • Locomotion (muscles, joints)
  • Neural control (impulses)
  • Endocrinology (hormones, disorders like diabetes)

 

Reproduction covers

  • Flowering plants (pollination, double fertilization) 
  • Human reproduction (gametogenesis, IVF)
  • Reproductive health (contraception, STDs)

Genetics and Evolution includes 

  • Mendelian inheritance (linkage, sex-linked traits)
  • DNA (replication, Lac operon)
  • Evolution (Darwinism, natural selection)

 

The syllabus prioritizes human physiology and genetics for high weightage.​
