Impact of the Supreme Court Order

  • NEET UG Score Adjustment: Candidates who answered the physics question as per the IIT Delhi experts (option 4) will receive full marks. Those who answered based on the old NCERT textbook (option 2) will see five marks deducted.

  • Rank List Update: The revision will affect the ranks of NEET UG 2024 toppers and change the merit list accordingly. Candidates are advised to check the revised results on the NTA’s official website exams.nta.ac.in

For instance, the choice-filling window for Round 1 in 2023 lasted five days, from July 22nd to 26th. NEET Counselling: Round 1 Process

Upon the result declaration of the seat allotments, candidates have several options:

  1. Accept the allotted seat, report to the college, and exit the counselling process.
  2. Accept the allotted seat, report to the college, but opt for upgradation.
  3. Deny the seat and exit the counselling process without forfeiture.

Candidates choosing options 2 or 3 can participate in Round 2 of counselling. If a candidate is not allotted a seat in the first round, they can directly enter Round 2.

NEET Counselling: Round 2 Process

The second round of NEET counselling offers the same options as Round 1. Registration for Round 2 in 2023 was from August 9 to 14, with the choice-filling window from August 10 to 15, and results published on August 18. The seat allotment process took two days between Choice Filling and Result Declaration.

Candidates opting for a seat upgrade in Round 2 but not receiving one can:

  1. Report to the college allotted in Round 1 or choose upgradation in Round 3.
  2. Proceed to Round 3 if no seat was allocated.

Candidates have a one-week reporting window after the result declaration.

NEET Counselling: Round 3 Process

The third round, or Mop-Up round, is generally the final phase of seat allotments. A Stray Vacancy round occurs if any unfilled seats remain post-Round 3. Candidates have the following options:

  1. Accept the seat, report to the college, and exit the counselling process.
  2. Deny the allocation and exit the counselling process with forfeiture of the security deposit.

Candidates without any seat allotments move on to the Stray Vacancy round.
