The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a 43-second video guide for candidates who may wonder about the failed payment after NEET UG 2026 application. Here are the instructions provided in the 43-second video:

 

  • Do not attempt another payment immediately: If a payment fails while submitting the NEET UG 2026 application form, candidates must not immediately attempt another payment. 
  • Wait and don’t panic: Candidates must not panic if a payment fails and wait for some time as the banks can take some time to process the payments.
  • Relogin to the application portal and check the payment status: Candidates must re-login to the application portal using the credentials after some time and check the payment status. 
  • Go for free verification to verify the payments: If the status of the payments is not confirmed, then candidates must click on ‘Go for free verification’ and check the payment status in the bank. 
  • Pay again if not confirmed: Candidates must make the payments again if required, i.e., if their payments are not confirmed. The payments can be made through any bank, including SBI, ICICI, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank, etc.

    Don’t panic. Don’t retry immediately. Candidates must wait for 30 minutes to 2 hours. They must then check the application dashboard to see the payment status. If the payment fails and the amount is deducted, then the amount will be refunded within 5 to 7 business days.

  • How do I confirm whether payment was successful?

    Candidates must log in to their application dashboard, and the payment status should show as ‘fee successfully paid’. Candidates must then download the confirmation page.

  • What if the status still shows “Pending” after several hours?

    Candidates must wait for at least 24 hours (at times, gateway delay happens). They must then check the bank statement and contact the NTA helpdesk if the issue is still unresolved. Candidates must avoid making multiple payments.
