NTA Notice on NEET 2026 Paper Leak as Rajasthan SOG Suspect Malpractice

The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently released an official press notice regarding irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 exam. The statement was released after reports about actions taken by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) related to suspected malpractice during the NEET UG 2026 exam.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2026) is one of the most important entrance exams in India for students seeking admission into MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses. Every year, lakhs of students appear for the NEET exam, making transparency and security extremely important. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently released a notice regarding irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 exam. Candidates must visit the official website to stay updated on all dates and deadlines for NEET UG 2026.

Overview of the NEET UG 2026 Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted by the NTA on May 3rd, 2026. The exam was conducted offline (pen-and-paper mode) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (3 hours).

NTA’s Notice Regarding Irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 Exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently released an official press notice regarding irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 exam. In the press release, the NTA clarified the sequence of events, explained the security arrangements used during the examination, and assured candidates that the integrity of the examination system remains a priority. The agency also requested students and parents to avoid panic while the investigation continues.

The NTA stated that the NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3rd, 2026, was conducted according to schedule and under strict security arrangements. According to the agency, several advanced technologies and monitoring systems were used to ensure fairness in the NEET UG 2026 exam. Here are a few major pointers highlighted by the NTA:

  • GPS-Tracked Transportation of Question Papers: One of the major security measures highlighted by the NTA was the transportation system for question papers. The question papers were moved using GPS-tracked vehicles. This means the movement of the vehicles carrying the papers could be monitored in real time. Each question paper package carried unique watermark identifiers to help authorities trace the source of any possible leak or unauthorised handling of question papers.

  • AI-Assisted CCTV Monitoring: As per the official notice, the exam centres were monitored using AI-assisted CCTV systems connected to a central control room. These systems helped officials observe activities at different centres simultaneously and identify suspicious behaviour more efficiently.

  • Biometric Verification of Candidates: Another important security feature used during the NEET UG 2026 exam was biometric verification. Every candidate underwent biometric checks before entering the exam hall. Biometric verification usually involves fingerprint or facial recognition systems. These methods help ensure that the person appearing for the examination is the actual registered candidate. This step is especially important in preventing impersonation and identity fraud during competitive exams such as NEET.

  • Use of 5G Jammers: The NTA also stated that 5G jammers were used at examination centres. These devices are intended to block unauthorised communication signals and reduce the possibility of cheating through electronic devices. With the increasing use of advanced communication technology, examination authorities across India have been adopting stronger digital security measures. The use of signal jammers is part of those efforts to prevent the misuse of mobile phones or other wireless devices during examinations.

  • Reports of Alleged Malpractice and Investigation: After the exam was completed, reports regarding suspected irregularities began to emerge. The NTA explained in its statement that it received inputs related to possible malpractice activity on the late evening of May 7, 2026, which was four days after the exam was conducted.

  • Ongoing Investigations: The NTA clarified that after receiving the information, it escalated the matter to central investigating agencies on the morning of May 8th, 2026. The agency stated that the verification and further action were then handled independently by law enforcement authorities. The press release mentioned that the recent detentions reported in the media were the result of professional and timely action by these agencies.

The NTA appreciated the efforts of the investigating authorities and confirmed that it is cooperating fully with them. The agency stated that it is providing all necessary examination-related data and technical assistance required for the investigation process. This cooperation is important because examination authorities possess sensitive information such as attendance records, biometric data, surveillance footage, and question paper handling details.

The NTA clearly stated that the matter is still under investigation. The agency said it would not make assumptions or predict the outcome of the inquiry before official findings are established. The agency also assured the public that whatever conclusions are reached by the authorities would be examined transparently and disclosed according to established procedures.

  • Impact on Students and Public Anxiety: Whenever reports of exam irregularities emerge, students and parents naturally become anxious. NEET is a highly competitive examination, and students spend several years preparing for it. News related to cheating or malpractice can create uncertainty about results, rankings, counselling, and admissions. Recognising this concern, the NTA addressed candidates and their families directly in the press release. The agency emphasised that the honesty and hard work of the vast majority of genuine aspirants are not being questioned. The agency requested candidates and parents to allow the investigating authorities enough time and space to complete their work properly.

For students preparing for medical admissions, the key message from the NTA is to remain calm, rely on official information, and avoid believing unverified rumours until the investigation is officially completed.
