8 Pointers of the NTA Tie-breaking Policy for NEET 2025

The NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025 comes to play to set ranks for candidates having the same NEET score. It includes a total of 8 points to decide which candidate will have a better NEET 2025 rank. Here are the 8 pointers of the NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025 as mentioned on the official website:

  • Higher Marks in Biology: Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the NEET 2025 exam

  • Higher Marks in Chemistry: Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the NEET exam 2025

  • Higher Marks in Physics: Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the NEET exam 2025

  • Low Incorrect Answers in All Subjects: Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the NEET exam 2025

  • Low Incorrect Answers in Biology: Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the NEET exam 2025

  • Low Incorrect Answers in Chemistry: Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the NEET exam 2025

  • Low Incorrect Answers in Physics: Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the NEET exam 2025

  • Independent Expert Committee: If all the above criteria are exhausted, and the tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee

The first seven pointers in the NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025 focus on the marks and correct answers in the NEET exam to decide the rank. If there is a tie even after exhausting all the seven points in the NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025, then a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee will be used to decide a rank. While the first seven points are the same as last year in the NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025, the use of the ‘random process’ is different from NEET 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) used the ‘Draw of lots by using the computer or IT with no human intervention’ method in NEET 2024 to issue ranks to candidates exhausting all the seven points.

Candidates must go through all the points on the information bulletin available on NTA’s official website to be completely aware of the processes and procedures in NEET 2025. The instructions and information on the bulletin are subject to change from time to time based on the decisions taken by the NTA. There may also be changes in the NTA tie-breaking policy for NEET 2025 in the future. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website and the information bulletin to stay updated.
