Student-friendly Measures Introduced for Re NEET 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced several student-friendly changes for re NEET UG 2026. These measures aim to make the examination process more comfortable while maintaining fairness and transparency. The changes have been introduced after considering feedback received from candidates over the years.

Extended Examination Duration

One of the most significant changes for NEET UG 2026 is the extension of the examination window.

  • The exam will now be conducted from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

  • The total examination window has been increased to 195 minutes

  • This duration includes the time needed for important pre-exam formalities

  • Activities such as signing attendance sheets and completing invigilation procedures will now be accommodated within the examination window

  • Candidates can focus on answering questions without feeling that administrative processes are reducing their effective writing time

This revision has been made to ensure that students get sufficient time to attempt the examination comfortably. Many candidates had previously expressed concerns that mandatory formalities consumed valuable examination time. The new schedule addresses this issue and creates a more relaxed testing environment.

Increase Space for Rough Work

The NTA has also enhanced the rough-work facilities available to candidates during the examination.

  • Candidates will now receive four rough-work pages in the question paper booklet. Previously, only two rough-work pages were provided.

  • The additional pages will help students perform calculations more effectively

  • Candidates can also use the extra space for drawing diagrams and making notes

  • The increased space is expected to be especially useful for Physics and Chemistry sections, where calculations are common

Many NEET aspirants rely heavily on rough work while solving numerical and analytical questions. By doubling the number of rough-work pages, NTA aims to reduce the stress associated with limited working space and help students organise their calculations better.

Revised Question Paper Booklet Design

Another important change introduced along with the student-friendly measures for the re NEET 2026 is the design and arrangement of rough-work pages within the question paper booklet.

  • Rough-work pages were available only at the end of the booklet

  • Candidates had to repeatedly flip through the booklet whenever rough work was required. This arrangement was not equally convenient for all students.

  • Two rough-work pages will be placed immediately after the instruction page at the beginning of the booklet

  • Two additional rough-work pages will continue to be provided at the end. Candidates can use whichever set of pages is more convenient for them

This modification has been introduced after feedback from students, particularly left-handed candidates, who found the previous arrangement less comfortable. By placing rough-work pages at both the beginning and the end, NTA has created a more flexible and accessible question paper format. This revised layout will be available in English and regional language question paper booklets.

Even though these modifications may appear small individually, they can collectively make a meaningful difference during a high-stakes examination such as NEET UG. Students often face significant pressure on exam day, and improvements that reduce unnecessary inconvenience can help them perform with greater confidence.

NTA has emphasised that these changes have been implemented without compromising examination security or fairness. The agency continues to maintain strict standards while introducing practical improvements that directly benefit candidates. Overall, the extended examination duration, increased rough-work space, and revised booklet design demonstrate NTA’s effort to improve the examination experience while maintaining the integrity of one of India’s most important entrance examinations.
