Candidates who qualify the NEET exam and meet the eligibility criteria, including domicile requirements, can participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2026 process.

 

The Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling process is expected to begin after the declaration of NEET UG 2026 results. Students must complete online registration, upload the required documents, pay the counselling fee, and fill in their preferred college and course choices through the official Tamil Nadu medical counselling portal. There are three major rounds in the Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2026 process. These three rounds are followed by the stray vacancy rounds depending upon the availability of seats. Candidates are allotted seats based on their obtained NEET scores, All India Ranks (AIRs), categories, and online option entries.

Here are a few general instructions specified on the official prospectus released by DMER Tamil Nadu:

 

  • Candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS degree courses in Tamil Nadu government medical/dental colleges, Government quota seats in self-financing medical/dental colleges, and ESIC Medical College, KK Nagar, Chennai, affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and Government Quota MBBS seats in state private university colleges, can access the application form on tnmedicalselection.org

  • Candidates should submit their filled in online application form after uploading the details in the required fields. The cost of the application form is Rs.500/- (non-refundable) and should be paid through the online Bank payment portal in the website. The candidates applying under the Special category for Eminent Sports Person and Children of Ex-Servicemen should pay an additional fee of Rs.100/- (non-refundable) for each special category via Bank payment portal.

  • All Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyar)/Scheduled Tribe candidates of Tamil Nadu native need not pay the application fees

  • Candidates should fill up all mandatory columns, upload all required documents, and submit the duly filled in online application. The candidates may download their filled in online application form and secure a copy of the same for their future reference.

  • Candidates should submit the filled in online application after filling up all fields with all relevant documents submitted/uploaded along with the application. Subsequent submission of supporting documents is not accepted either on courier/post/or in person.

Eligibility Criteria for DMER Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026

Candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS courses through Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 must fulfill the eligibility requirements prescribed by the Selection Committee and NEET UG guidelines. Here are the eligibility criteria for DMER Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2026, as on the official website:

 

  • The candidate should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete 17 years on or before 31st December 2026

  • Applicants must be citizens of India. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) candidates registered under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 are also eligible to apply, subject to valid proof of registration. However, OCI/PIO candidates are treated under the open category and are not eligible for reservation benefits.

  • The admission to MBBS and BDS courses is strictly based on NEET UG 2026 scores. Candidates must qualify in the NEET examination conducted for the 2026 – 2027 academic session.

  • Candidates applying under the Tamil Nadu state quota should be natives of Tamil Nadu and must produce a valid Nativity Certificate issued by the competent authority. Candidates from other states who studied in Tamil Nadu may be considered only under the Open Category, subject to prescribed conditions.

  • Candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually in the qualifying examination. The general category students must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology subjects. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required marks are 40%, while PwD candidates in the unreserved category require 45%.

Fee Structure for Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026

The Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 prospectus also consists of various fees applicable during the admission and counselling processes for MBBS and BDS courses under government quota, self-financing colleges, and special categories.

 

  • Application Fees: Candidates applying for Government Quota seats must pay an application fee of Rs. 500 through the online payment portal. Applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar (SCA), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories who are natives of Tamil Nadu are exempted from paying the application fees.

    For candidates applying under special categories such as Eminent Sports Person or Children of Ex-Servicemen, an additional non-refundable fee of Rs. 100 must be paid for each special category applied.

  • Registration Fees: Candidates shortlisted in the merit list and participating in counselling must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 500 for Government Quota counselling
