121 Graduates from AFMC, Pune Commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces

121 graduates from AFMC, Pune, were commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces in a grand ceremony held on April 23rd, 2025.

 

 

April 23, 2025, Pune - 121 candidates from the 59th batch of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, were formally commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces on April 23rd, 2025. A grand ceremony was held at Capt Devashish Sharma, Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, for the commission of the candidates.

DGAFMS Addresses the 121 Graduates from AFMC, Pune

 

 

The ceremony’s parade was reviewed by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). After reviewing the impressive commissioning parade led by Saurabh Singh Yadav, the Medical Cadet (now Lieutenant), Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin addressed the 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune.

 

The DGAFMS expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune. She urged the officers to serve the nation with utmost sincerity, dedication, and integrity. ‘You are now the torchbearers of a proud legacy. Uphold the values of honor, integrity, and selfless service. Lead with purpose, serve with humility, and strive to make a meaningful difference’, she said while addressing the newly commissioned officers.

 

She further stated that science and technology have revolutionized medical practice but they will never replace the human touch in healing. The DGAFMS advised the newly commissioned officers to provide comfort, courage, and care to the Indian soldiers and their families whenever they interact with them. She asked the 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune, to remember the motto of duty, honor, and courage and to always be combat ready, credible, and cohesive.

 

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, during her speech to the 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune, urged the new officers to uphold the highest standards of service and commitment to the nation. ‘You are now officers of the Indian Armed Forces. This is a serious responsibility. It is a position of trust. Watch what you say, how you act, and the decisions you make. Those who serve with you will look up to you. Never betray that faith. Lead boldly, decisively, and fairly. You are not just doctors—you will be leaders in uniform. Never forget that you are the honor of the nation,’ she added.

 

“Look fit. Look sharp. Look smart. It is not just about aesthetics; it reflects readiness, resilience, and respect for the uniform you wear,” the DGAFMS said.  She further added “Be grateful to your parents and family — they’ve stood by you silently through your storms. In the far-flung outposts where you may be posted, make that effort to call home. Facebook friends may fade — but your family and your term will always be in your corner and there for you.”

Performance and Commission of 121 Graduates from AFMC, Pune

 

 

In the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) Winter 2024 Examinations, the 59th batch of AFMC performed well, with 145 cadets graduating including 5 from friendly foreign nations. Out of these, 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune, were officially commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces on April 23rd, 2025. 93 of the 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune, were gentlemen cadets and 28 were lady cadets. 15 cadets were commissioned to the Air Force, 11 into Navy, and 95 into Army.

 

 

The addition of 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune to the Indian Armed Forces will significantly boost the healthcare of army personal. These 121 graduates from AFMC, Pune may be deployed in combat zones to diagnose and treat illnesses and provide clinical care.
