Institutional Conditions for Admission

Compulsory Service Requirement

According to the Karnataka Vocational Education Act, all students admitted under different categories (Government Seats, Private (Paid) Seats, NRI Candidates, and Management Candidates) must provide an Undertaking to comply with the following conditions:

Regulations & Discipline:

  • Students must adhere to the rules, regulations, and hostel policies of the Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMISMR).

  • They must abide by directives issued by the Governing Body from time to time.

Mandatory Service in Rural Areas:

  • All students must serve in designated rural or medically underserved areas in free hospitals registered with the university for a duration equal to the length of the MBBS Course 2025 (5 years, including internship).

  • During this period, they will receive a stipend as per government regulations.

Postgraduate (PG) Course Eligibility & Service Conditions:

  • A candidate who has already obtained a PG degree from another institution is eligible to apply for PG courses at Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMISMR).

  • If a candidate secures a PG seat at Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMISMR), they will receive zero-fee education and a stipend as per government norms.

  • The remaining service obligation from the UG course must be supplemented with one additional year of service.

  • If a PG seat is obtained from any other university, the student must complete the pending UG compulsory service in free hospitals registered under Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMISMR).

  • PG students must complete their prescribed compulsory service within 10 years of finishing their UG course.

Penalty for Non-Compliance:

  • If a student fails to fulfill the compulsory service obligation, they must pay a penalty of double the tuition fee determined by the university.

  • Candidates who secure UG and PG seats at Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMISMR) but fail to serve must pay four times the NRI PG fee.

  • Students who withdraw or discontinue their course must pay the entire course fee equivalent to the NRI fee, including hostel charges.

  • If the penalty is not paid within six weeks, an additional 12% interest will be charged on the unpaid amount.

Hostel & Accommodation:

  • Students admitted through KEA will be provided free hostel accommodation for the entire course.
