• Minority Private Tamil Nadu State Medical Colleges: These types of colleges are owned and operated by minority groups. There are 2 minority groups in Tamil Nadu, which include the Linguistic and Religious. Christian Medical College, Vellore and Panimalar Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Chennai, are examples of religious private minority medical colleges. Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital, Perambalur and Annapoorna Medical College and Hospital, Salem District, are examples of Linguistic private minority medical colleges.
  
  
• Non-minority Private Tamil Nadu State Medical Colleges: These are colleges that are not affiliated with any particular minority group.
