Tamil Nadu is home to 74 medical colleges, collectively offering 11,600 MBBS seats, ranking it 1st among all states in India.

In Tamil Nadu, the state authority DME conducts NEET counselling for 85% of State Quota seats, while the MCC handles the counselling for the remaining 15% of seats.

The DME allows only 85% of the seats in Government Colleges because 15% are allocated under the All India Quota (AIQ) through MCC counselling. DME has complete authority to allot all the seats in private colleges.

• An open category based on merit for eligible candidates. Minority Network is based on inter-se merit for Christian missions. There is a staff quota for eligible members' children.
