Overview of NEET UG Exam 2026

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by the NTA every year to give deserving candidates opportunities to pursue medical education in prestigious institutions across India. It is vital for candidates to clear the NEET UG exam 2026 with higher percentiles to be considered for admissions to these colleges.  

 

The NEET UG exam 2026 is expected to be conducted on 3rd May 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (3 hours). The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper). The NEET UG exam 2026 will consist of a total of 180 questions, all of which are compulsory. The total marks for the NEET UG exam 2026 will be 720. +4 marks will be awarded for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. Candidates must be 17 years of age (by December 2026) and passed 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English as the major subjects.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released a public notice containing advisory and instructions for updating Aadhaar Cards, UDID Cards, and Category Certificates on January 5, 2026. Here are the instructions specified by the NTA for updating documents and certificates:

 

Ensure the Documents are Updated for NEET UG 2026

Candidates must ensure that all their documents are updated before applying for the NEET UG exam 2026. This is to ensure that there are no discrepancies or rejection at the later stage of NEET UG 2026. Here are the documents to be updated:



  • Aadhaar Card: All the candidates appearing for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 are advised to ensure that their Aadhaar Card is accurate, valid, and duly updated in all aspects. The Aadhaar card must correctly reflect the name, date of birth, gender, photograph, address, and biometric information of candidates. Candidates who wish to update their Aadhaar cards must do so by following the UIDAI guidelines. They can either visit https://uidai.gov.in/ or https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ for aadhar update-related services.

  • UDID Card for Persons with Disabilities: Candidates are advised to ensure that their UDID cards are valid, renewed or updated, as required.

  • Category Certificates: Candidates must also ensure that their category certificates for (EWS/ SC/ ST/ OBC - NCL) are valid and updated. Any discrepancies noticed in any stage of NEET UG 2026 will result in rejection.
