DPUE Proposes to Karnataka Govt for Offline Coaching for PU Students

DPUE Proposes to Karnataka Govt for Offline Coaching for PU Students

The Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) has submitted a proposal to the government of Karnataka seeking a shift to offline coaching for PU students in the coming academic year. According to the DPUE, the decision for offline coaching for Karnataka PU students was taken with the aim of helping them better prepare for competitive exams.

The proposal for a shift to offline coaching of PU students was submitted by the Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) to the Karnataka government to help candidates better prepare for the competitive exams, such as CET, NEET, and JEE. This major change from online to offline coaching is mainly for students studying in government and aided PU colleges. This article provides an overview of DPUE, shares information on the submitted DPUE proposal to Karnataka Government for offline coaching for competitive exams, associated benefits, and other vital information.

Overview of the Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE)

The Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) is a government department in Karnataka that manages pre-university education across the state. The department mainly looks after the education of students studying in 1st PUC and 2nd PUC, which are equivalent to Classes 11 and 12. The DPUE acts as a bridge between SSLC (class 10) and higher education. The streams offered by DPUE include Science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology), Commerce (Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, and Statistics), and Humanities (History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Geography).

The DPUE is responsible for regulating government, aided, and private PU colleges in Karnataka. It prepares academic guidelines, monitors college functioning, conducts examinations, and announces PU results. The department also ensures that colleges follow educational standards and provide quality teaching to students. The Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) also offers free coaching for competitive entrance exams, like JEE, NEET, and CET, to students in government and aided PU colleges.

DPUE Proposal to Karnataka Government for Offline Coaching for PU Students

The Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) has submitted a proposal to the government of Karnataka seeking a shift to offline coaching for PU students in the coming academic year. The proposal to the government of Karnataka seeking a shift to offline coaching for PU students was submitted to enhance preparation for competitive exams such as CET, NEET, and JEE.

As per the submitted proposal, the existing lecturers who previously used the online mode for coaching students will be trained for offline teaching. These lecturers will then coach the PU candidates offline within the college classrooms.

How the New Coaching System will Work

Under the new proposal, free coaching will be conducted inside government and aided PU colleges across Karnataka. Instead of depending completely on online teaching platforms, trained PU lecturers will teach students directly in classrooms. The Karnataka government is also considering a hybrid model for colleges that have fewer science students. In such cases, both online and offline learning methods may be used together. However, the final decision on the hybrid model is still pending.

The coaching programme mainly targets science students from economically weaker families. Many students cannot afford the high fees charged by private coaching centres for NEET and JEE preparation. By providing free coaching support, the government hopes to create equal opportunities for talented students from rural and low-income backgrounds.

The state government had earlier announced free coaching support for nearly 25,000 PU science students in government colleges. Funds were also allocated for entrance exam preparation programmes. Students are expected to receive coaching for important subjects, practice tests, doubt-clearing sessions, and guidance related to entrance exam patterns.

Karnataka’s Focus on Competitive Exam Preparation

The Karnataka government has been taking several steps to strengthen entrance exam preparation for government college students. The decision to shift from online to offline coaching shows that the government is trying to improve the effectiveness of the programme based on earlier experiences.

Officials expect better results in the coming academic year because coaching will begin earlier and teachers from the students’ own colleges will conduct classes. This may help students feel more comfortable during learning sessions.

The state is also focusing on ensuring equal educational opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Free coaching support can reduce the gap between students studying in private institutions and those studying in government colleges.

Strong preparation support at the PU level may improve Karnataka students’ performance in national-level entrance examinations. If more students from government colleges succeed in CET, NEET, and JEE, it could increase higher education opportunities for economically weaker sections of society.
